Minnehaha County Jail Expansion
Expansion to the existing county jail in Sioux Falls, SD. Henry Carlson Construction and JE Dunn Construction built the project together as a joint venture.
Highlights included:
- Added 320 beds to the downtown Minnehaha County Jail, resulting in 720 secure beds in a single location
- Replaced (with new construction) the aging/outdated sallyport, intake & release, jail medical, jail administration, master control, 24-7 program area, jail lobby/visitation areas which are all currently housed in the Public Safety Building.
- Construction added one additional floor to the current 4 stories of the downtown jail, plus a three floor jail addition to include additional inmate housing and all of the jail related support areas.
