A look inside new airport parking garage
Travelers won’t have to wait much longer to use the new parking garage at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport.
It’s down to the final touches inside the airport parking garage.
“This is something we’ve been working on for better part of a decade to conceptualize what we need, what the scope should be, down to what should it look like,” Sioux Falls Regional Airport Deputy Director Richard King said.
The four-level parking garage with nearly 960 spots officially opens on October 1st.
The ground level will feature over 200 short-term stalls.
The next three levels, all covered, will have room for more than 740 stalls.
“My advice, if you want to take a long vacation in the winter, use the covered parking. We do have EV chargers in there as well, so folks with the Teslas will be able to charge up in the short term or fourth floor of long term as well,” King said.
While the parking garage opens in less than a week, travelers will have to wait longer to use the skywalk.
“The skyway, that will not be open until about October 11th. There’s still flooring and finishes to do in there,” King said.
Once the whole project wraps up, it’s on to the next one at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport.
“We envision a second concourse for everybody to utilize, and we are hoping to break ground on that next year,” King said.
But for now, travelers are in for a new parking experience at the airport.
Parking in the garage will be free for the first 20 minutes. Then it’s $2 for every 20 minutes.
The daily rate for the short-term spaces in the garage is $25. The long-term is $16 a day.
In addition to the garage, the airport still has uncovered long-term parking and an economy lot. View the story on Keloland.
